Facilitation

A trained performer and passionate educator, Loran has a BFA degree in Fine Arts Acting and an OCC in Teaching Adult Learners. She has performed in numerous festivals, dinner theatres, and onscreen. She’s been a tutor, a daycare manager, and a business process expert and trainer. She has more than 10 years experience in training and facilitation and more than 20 in performance and improvisation. She’s unafraid to say, “I don’t know, but I will learn” and lives to improve both her skills and the material between delivery sessions based on feedback and metrics as available.

TECHNICAL SKills

Loran is a quick learner who enjoys doing her taxes because she gets to do math - or she did until it all went digital. As one of the original members of the Enterprise Data & Analytics Team at the City of Hamilton, she gets to build a data management program and platform from scratch. She specializes in data governance, master data, and rapidly learning new skills and parsing them out to help others learn. At Loblaws Companies, Ltd. she flew quickly through the data ranks, becoming an IT Manager of between 4 and 8 people, both developers and designers. She was chosen as part of a select group to attend both SAP Tech Ed and SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG Conferences, and has spoken at ASUG Ontario’s Chapter Meeting.

INCLUSION INITIATIVES

Loran has endeavored to make all her output as inclusive as possible. From AODA compliant documents, to delivering content in visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic styles. She excels in creatively accommodating any students’ needs, whether that is delivering prepared learning materials in advance of training sessions to advocating for variable height desk options to including activities that appeal to a variety of learning and communication styles to ensuring that all persons have the opportunity and support to speak and question in her sessions. When not working, caring for her dog, carving out time with her partner, raising an active toddler, and working to maintain her own health, she is proactive member of her communities - working to empower others and herself through education, to support others with her strength and solidarity, and to help those in power find compassion, understanding, and growth to make their jobs easier and all our lives fuller and more secure.
